The Sports Agronomy Research Unit (SARU) has been established to conduct basic and contract research and provide consultancy services in the area of living grass surfaces for sporting and recreational activities. It complements the U.W.I. Centre for Cricket Excellence and is part of the University’s thrust to help develop sports in the region.

SARU is rooted in the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences, Department of Biological and Chemical Sciences.  

Interdisciplinary studies are envisaged as the unit develops.
