(e.g. x doubled, not x went from 3.1 to 6.2)
Is detailed
INTRODUCTION
Background information is adequate
A logical sequence is followed
Problem being investigated is clearly set out
Does not contain material that belongs elsewhere
Doe not contain irrelevant or elementary material
Literature is well cited
Does not end abruptly
MATERIAL
& METHODS
Written concisely and scientifically
Is sufficiently detailed for someone to repeat this
No procedures are missing
Full plant name is given, i.e. genus, species, authority, cultivar
SI units only are used
Standard methods used are cited
Details of special equipment are given
RESULTS
Presented in a logical sequence (not necessarily in the order obtained!)
Results are adequately described
Trends are clearly stated
All raw data presented in the Appendix
All data are subject to simple statistical treatment
Figure/Table legends adequate i.e. provide enough information to make data
intelligible without recourse
to the text (including state sample size and type of error bar).
DISCUSSION
Your data is adequately interpreted/discussed
Your data is discussed with reference to the literature
Only relevant material is included
