FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

INTRODUCTION
Below are the answers to some of the frequently asked questions (FAQ).   The nature of the question should be obvious from the answer.  As the Faculty coordinator, I have created this web site to help improve the communication links between UWI and the colleges.  If you have further suggestions, please communicate with me via email.

CO-ORDINATION PROCESS

• The TLIU now maintains a database for the colleges at the following location:
  Non-Campus Countries State-Community Colleges

• To contact a lecturer on the cave hill campus, please refer to the Cave Hill Directory. In this database, you should find the name of the course and the corresponding UWI lecturer.  Please contact that lecturer as required via email.  Email addresses are on the Department web servers:

COURSE TESTS

• Course Tests are set and marked by the lecturer at the college.  Please refer to the Faculty of Science & Technology Handbook to identify the number of course tests that will be set throughout the semester.  If you are unsure on the duration of a course test, number of questions, etc.. please contact the Cave Hill lecturer via email / tel. / fax. or via the TLIU.

• The exam paper is set by the Cave Hill lecturer.  The normal procedure is for the Cave Hill lecturer to hand into the examinations section, a copy of the solutions.  The examinations section will then send the solutions to the college, after the exam date, so that the scripts can be marked.  

• Please ensure that the exam mark sheet is completed and signed as the first examiner, and that the following material is also returned:  (a) Course test papers that were set during the semester (b) Student course test marks (c) Student lab. marks if applicable.

• If you have not received the exam paper solutions after the date of the exam (1 week later), please contact the lecturer via email / Tel. / Fax, and ask if the solutions were given to the examinations section.  It is extremely important that the exam scripts are marked and sent back to Cave Hill at least one week before the examiners meeting.

• In the examiners meeting of 4th June 1999, it was decided that if the solutions from Cave Hill are inadvertently delayed, then the college staff members should create their own solutions to the exam papers, and send these together with the exam scripts in time for the examiners meeting.  At the examiners meeting, please point out the delay so that we may attempt to resolve this problem. 

• For past exam papers, please contact the TLIU.  They will contact the Faculty Office or the Main Library for copies on your behalf. 

• Create your own tutorial sheet questions, and use the UWI tutorial sheets as supplemental.  Contact the Cave Hill lecturer to establish if the questions at the back of the prescribed text book may be used as tutorial questions.  

• As the semester progresses, keep checking the TLIU database. 

• Please note that solutions to the UWI tutorial sheets are NOT provided. 

OTHER QUESTIONS

• For any questions on the lecture material, or tutorial sheets, or laboratory, please contact the lecturer directly via email, or fax your question to the TLIU, and ask them to forward it directly to the lecturer.
